You Can Help a First Responder in Need of a Service Dog

I’m a proud Mama and Grammy. Every parent dreads hearing that their child is ill and suffering! I just got the news that my daughter, who has had a chronic illness since childhood, has gotten worse. She is facing a medical crisis that has prevented her from working, and she has had to take a medical unpaid leave. She is now unable to afford the specialty care she needs.

For the last 10 years, she has been a first responder for her community and country. She literally has been helping all of us to stay safe! She has spoken to many people on the worst day of their life and gotten them the help they needed. She has worked long shifts, night shifts, weekends and holidays doing her part to help all of us stay safe. But now she needs help from all of us!

It has been highly recommended by her doctor that she get a medical service dog to help her with her chronic illness. Over the years her condition has had flare ups that make it difficult for her to continue with her normal daily activities. Her most recent flare up has really taken a significant toll on her body. A medical service dog can help her with many aspects of her care.

A couple of things a medical service dog can help her with are: bring her medications, help her out of bed, sense an oncoming medical episode before it happens, assist in sleeping, and alert her family at night when she needs help. The service dog is able to alert her if she is in medical danger. These are just a few of the things the service dog could do to help her.

The problem with getting a service dog is the cost to obtain one is very expensive.
So that’s why I’m doing something I never thought I would have to do. I’m reaching out to you through fundraising and asking for donations to help her be able to afford a service dog. Any amount that you would be able to donate would be extremely appreciated.

Eventually, she wants to be able to get back out into the world. My daughter’s goals are to be able to go back to work, be a better wife, mom, family member, and friend. One of her children was unfortunately born with a rare medical condition requiring lifelong care. It is essential that my daughter has the ability to give her daughter lifelong care. Having a service dog would greatly help her attain this need. While caring for herself, she has also been caring for all of her other children as well. The support of a medical service dog would help her to accomplish her goals.

Please, won’t you help my daughter with a donation of any amount you can afford? She would greatly appreciate any help you can give. And so would her Mama!
