Support First Graders After Hurricane Damage

My sister, Tammy Greene, is a first-grade teacher at Madeira Beach Fundamental K-8, which was hit hard by the flooding from Hurricane Helene, with 3-4 feet of water throughout the school. As a result, much of her classroom has been destroyed by the water. They are being moved to another school and will have to share a classroom with another teacher. She will have one and a half days to pack up everything from her classroom and get it out of the school. Now, if you know my sister and how much she cares about her students/classroom, this is a very difficult task in such a short timeframe. These teachers' and students' lives have been turned upside down. They aren’t able to get into their classrooms until Monday, 9/30, afternoon, and they are expected to be ready for students by Wednesday, 10/2, only days after this flooding hit. Many of these teachers suffered major damage at their homes as well.

I am raising money for her to help replace all that was lost in the hurricane. She will be replacing books from her class, rugs, reading corner chairs, etc. With her teaching first grade, everything is basically low to the ground since the students are still so little!

Update: They were just notified it is too dangerous to go into their classroom and they can only make a list for the 8 Custodians to get from their classroom for them. There are 125 Teachers and 8 Custodians so I’m thinking she will lose even more then she originally thought!
