My name is Ellis, and I’m the President of Local 2944 of the Milton Professional Firefighters. I’m reaching out on behalf of one of our own—Firefighter Michael Van Why—who is facing an unimaginable tragedy.

On May 15, 2025, Michael will lay his daughter, Adelyn, to rest. No words can express the heartbreak of losing a child. As a father, friend, and firefighter, Michael has always been the kind of man who puts others before himself—now it’s our turn to lift him up.

Michael has been through more than most can fathom, yet he continues to show strength, grace, and compassion to everyone around him. He’s dedicated his life to serving his community—now we’re asking our community to help serve him.

We are raising funds to assist with funeral expenses and to help cover household bills during this incredibly difficult time. No parent should have to worry about finances while mourning their child.
