Firefighter Anthony Campa

Donation protected

Like so many Paradise, CA residents, Anthony Campa lost his home in the Camp Fire on the morning of Thursday, 11/8/18.  He alerted his neighbors of the impending danger then watched as the flames spread to his home. He got in his vehicle to drive to safety but he didn't go to an evacuation center or another family member's home to hunker down and wait. Anthony instead drove away from his own burning home to the fire station so he could get to work doing what he does best: fighting fires and saving lives. He's spent 15 years with Paradise Fire, working his way up to Volunteer Lieutenant and 7 years with CDF/CAL FIRE, serving on their fire prevention team in the Carmel, CA area. He's also been a constant participant in Every 15 Minutes, a two-day program focusing on high school juniors and seniors, which challenges them to think about drinking, driving, personal safety, and the responsibility of making mature decisions. He's been active in his community over the years, often working to help build it up as a local contractor in the area. While his home did burn to the ground like so many others in Butte County, the property was insured. It will take a few months before that can be sorted out and he can make plans to rebuild. The fire however, is still burning and he's working along with crews from several other counties and states until it's fully extinguished. In the meantime, he's lost his place to live, all his clothing and basic necessities needed for him to have a comfortable place to rest when he does get a chance to do so in the midst of fighting the deadliest and most destructive fire in California history. The money donated to this cause will help him to secure temporary housing, buy clothing, and basic home necessities until he's able to have his insurance claim processed and receive the resulting settlement so he can make plans for the future, which are to stay in Paradise to rebuild. He loves his community and will no doubt play a big part in finding the Paradise that has been lost and work hard to help restore it to its natural beauty. Please consider giving him any support that you are able.

In accordance with the Go Fund Me guidelines, my name is Jen Green. I'm a friend and neighbor of Anthony's son Jason Campa in San Francisco, CA. I was born in Chico and most of my family still resides in Butte County. My ties to the community are strong and if I can do anything to help, especially such a dedicated servant, have the reassurance that he'll have food, clothing and a comfortable place to sleep every night, this is the best way I know how. Thanks so much for supporting my friend's dad and one of Butte County's longtime faithful firefighters, Anthony Campa!
