Hello, my name is Noa. I am asking for help with funding for the necessary procedures and surgeries that might follow regarding my baby girl, Fiona.
I adopted Fiona 6 years ago from the Fenton Adopt-a-Pet here in Michigan. I needed a service animal, and after a few unfortunate meetings, my meeting with Fiona went amazingly. She ran into the room, all tail wags and joyous leaps. She had some grey, so I knew she was a little older. But that didn't matter to me. It was love at first sight. She ran up to me and practically jumped into my arms. In a sense, she hasn't left them since.
Since the day I brought her home, she has been trained to do some pretty incredible things for a dog. She knows how to interact with others in a way that helps my broken brain realize that that person is safe. She has learned to comfort me during a panic attack. She has even learned to smell the ketones in my blood and tell me if they are too high or too low. She has saved my life on two occasions, and except for the time I was hospitalized with COVID, she has been by my side every day.
About a month and a half ago, Fiona started limping, not using one of her legs. I took her to a low-cost clinic that helps animals, and they examined her and said it was something to do with her bones. I waited for a callback as they said they would, but none was ever received. Upon calling and asking for an update on Fiona's further treatment, they told me there was nothing they could do, and I needed to go to a full-service vet hospital.
I called our local one, and they agreed Fiona needed to be seen ASAP, as her back legs are not supporting her anymore. I asked if they did billing, as I would surely happily pay it off over time, but they said payment is required for service, so here we are.
Please help me help Fiona with everything she needs. For 6 years now, she has been the only thing keeping me sane through everything I have been going through, and the thought of her suffering or losing her has been constantly on my mind (and has had me crying multiple times a day). Whatever help you could offer would be appreciated. If the doctor says there is nothing they can do, the money will go towards getting her the necessary medical equipment that will make her life easier and fuller: doggy wheelchair, supplements, puppy pads, etc.
Thank you all so much for anything you can do.
