Support Fiona's Journey to Pain-Free Play

Donation protected
When Fiona was 6 months old, during a physical exam, we were told that she likely had hip dysplasia. Three sets of X-rays later, we finally got a solid answer and a report from the Orthopedic Foundation for Animals (OFA) saying she had “moderate hip dysplasia,” osteoarthritis, and various other problems. At that point, she’d just turned 2 years old.

Fiona was meant to be a service dog, but when we realized how much her hips affected her, she had to be retired before she could even truly begin. Now, coming onto almost 3 years old this summer, her hips have deteriorated even more.

I am Fiona’s owner. I have had her since she was 8 weeks old. I am a 21-year-old full-time college student who works part-time and volunteers when she can. When I received Fiona, I knew there would be costs. What I did not expect was to be paying upwards of $2000+ in medical bills within 2 years and watch my baby limp, whine, and cry because of the pain she is in daily.

Her latest X-rays and consults from orthopedic surgeons say that total hip replacement surgery is the best option for her. Unfortunately, that also costs a minimum of $10,000 per hip.

With a maxed-out credit card, empty savings account, and credit to build before I can even think about getting a loan, I admit that I need help.

With how young she is, this surgery could change everything. Her life expectancy and quality of life could go up drastically. I wouldn’t have to cry at night thinking of when I will have to make that terrible decision or wonder how much time she has left.

Every little bit really does help. If you can help me keep Fiona happy and chasing frisbees (her favorite things in the world), I would be eternally grateful and put out into the world everything I get.
