Support Fiona's Fight Against Stage 4 Lymphoma

Donation protected
It’s with a heavy heart that I write this GoFundMe, but I believe in the power of community and connection to work miracles. I’m hoping that together, we can raise the funds to support my mum in her fight with Stage Four Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma Cancer and help cover both life-saving treatment and the everyday costs of living with this disease.

I know this is a large amount to ask for, but even raising a fraction would make a meaningful difference. The stress of affording treatment on top of everyday bills is overwhelming, and any help would ease that burden immensely.

My beautiful mum, Fiona, was diagnosed in January 2024 with Follicular Lymphoma, a type of Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma which is a blood cancer. While this form of cancer is often slow-growing and manageable without immediate treatment—even at an advanced stage—the recommendation at diagnosis was to monitor her condition carefully and stay alert for any changes.

However, over the past year, her situation has shifted from "watch and wait" to "treatment recommended." Doctors now suspect that the cancer may have transformed into Diffuse Large B-Cell Lymphoma, a more aggressive and fast-growing type. Further tests are needed to confirm this, but what we do know is that her cancer is at Stage 4, meaning it has spread to multiple areas of her body.

There are four main sites where the cancer is present, with the most concerning being a tumour in her stomach. CT scans show it has grown from 13cm to 17cm—requiring targeted treatment. As a result, she has been experiencing debilitating symptoms: uncontrollable night sweats, fatigue, nausea, shortness of breath, dizziness, and a significant loss of energy. Even simple activities like a short shopping trip leave her exhausted for the rest of the day.

Blood tests have revealed dangerously low levels of iron and hemoglobin. Her most recent test showed a hemoglobin level of 6.4 (a healthy range for women is 12–15). She was advised to go to the ER immediately for a blood transfusion. So far, she has received two units of blood and is expected to need more, along with iron IV infusions that are more effective than oral supplements. We're hopeful that restoring her blood and iron levels will improve her energy and overall health.

Thankfully, her health insurance has covered treatment up to this point, and we’re incredibly grateful. However, coverage is limited, and returning to the UK is not an option due to housing and financial constraints. That’s why we’ve created this GoFundMe—to raise funds for her continued treatment and to help cover essentials like rent, food, and other living costs. Right now, she is unable to work as much as she normally would and is not eligible for disability support.

My mum, Fiona is an exceptionally talented violinist who has been performing with local musicians in the Sedona area for several years. Her music brings joy to others, and I hope she can continue sharing her gift. But her energy is waning, and performing for three hours—even for the healthiest among us—is incredibly tough. She continues to play when she can, but the impact of the diagnosis and her symptoms have made regular performances difficult.

So, we are here asking for help. The funds will go toward two main needs:

1. Treatment Costs:
We are exploring Low-Dose Chemotherapy as well as supportive therapies including high-dose Vitamin C IV, hyperbaric oxygen therapy and heat therapy, whilst focusing on diet and supplements to complement treatment.

2. Living Expenses:
Rent and basic bills are difficult to manage in the best of times. With reduced income, the stress of daily living is immense. Your support will help ease that burden and allow her to focus on healing.

While traditional medical treatments are often life-saving, they are not one-size-fits-all. Many people opt for a more holistic approach—one that treats the whole person rather than just the disease. That’s why we believe in combining conventional treatment with alternative therapies and, most importantly, removing as much stress as possible. We believe this could be life-changing—and life-saving.

I want to see my mum meet her granddaughter for the first time. I want her to keep making beautiful music, to laugh again, and to enjoy life. I want as many more years with her by my side as possible.

Much love and peace to you all—thank you so much for reading, and for donating if you’re able.

With gratitude,

❤️
