Born Friday, September 1st, 2017, our sweet baby girl Fiona made her transition to the other side on Friday, November 1st, 2024. Fiona was a petite, medium-hair domestic house cat with beautiful, soft white fur & the most precious little pink nose & paws. Named after Princess Fiona from Shrek, her name proved appropriate, as she was always very sweet, spunky, strong willed and determined to make her point. She leaves behind her Mama, Alyson L. Garcia and her Dada, Elias C. Georgopoulos.
At 6 years & 5 months old, Fiona was diagnosed with Stage 4 Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD). After this diagnosis, several vet visits, numerous medications, and lots of love & care… Fiona was able to survive an additional 8 months, a majority of which was spent perfectly happy & (behaviorally) healthy. The inspiring part is that given a Stage 4 diagnosis, 8 months is an amazing amount of time to have pushed through. Not many CKD cats with a Stage 4 diagnosis survive for as long, which goes to show the strength & bravery that Fiona had.
During the 8 months of treatment, many vet bills were accrued. This Go Fund Me has been created to help with part of the debt that has accrued & been difficult to pay off due to these bills. It will also help pay for her cremation so that her Mama & Dada can give her the respectful and direct cremation that she deserves. This will allow them to bring her back home to them where she belongs.
We hope that the below can encapsulate just how special of a kitty she truly was:
Fiona loved sitting in the windowsill watching the birds, napping in the sun, her Dada, and cuddling up w/ her Mama with her paws covering her face. She loved delectables push up treats, chicken, and always accompanied her Mama (and often her Dada) to the restroom (even if she had to force the sliding door to the bathroom open to get in). The faucet was her favorite place to drink water from. Even though she knew she wasn’t allowed, she insisted on trying to sneak her way into her Dada’s studio music room. Anytime we had a bowl of cereal, we had to give her a little plate of her own milk. She was always climbing onto her Mama’s laptop across her screen to make sure Mama knew she was there during her therapy sessions. You could never leave your sweater lying around because best believe it would be her new blanket to nap on (especially her Dada’s sweaters & robe). She always sat in the kitchen and waited for her Dada to get home & you could always guarantee that she’d greet you with love when you got home by rubbing against your legs. She was there for us through our best and our worst days. We thank her for all of the time that she gave us, even 8 months after her unfortunate Stage 4 CKD diagnosis.
To Princess Fiona: Thank you for allowing Mama & Dada to guide you to Rainbow Bridge. You were so strong & brave through all of it and we’re so proud of you. We will always love you our boogity baby, our sweet girl, our heart & soul, Mama & Dada’s little baby. Thank you for showing us what unconditional love is. We will see you again someday baby girl <3
