My name is Finnley Young, a student at Washington State University and a rower preparing to represent the United States this summer.

I picked up an oar for the first time at WSU with no rowing experience. Since starting as a novice walk-on in the fall of 2023, I have been fortunate to train alongside incredible teammates and coaches who have helped me reach the standard required to compete at the international level.

After a rigorous selection process, I’ve been chosen for the US squad for the 2026 FISU World University Games. It is a highly selective team and a high honor to be named to the roster.

This level of rowing is entirely self-funded. Balancing full-time training with my academic and professional commitments makes it difficult to cover the costs of elite competition alone.
