Hi, my name is Kaelee and we just rescued this sweet boy named Finley this previous Sunday. He is 7 weeks old and came from poor conditions. He was in an apartment in the city with 30+ other unvaccinated dogs from someone overbreeding. We rescued him and a 1-2 year old girl that we named Adie. Just last night Finley started becoming ill. He threw up 7 times in the span of 3 hours, and then his stool became soft and liquidy. Our nearby emergency vet was closed, so we drove over an hour to go to another. He tested positive for Parvo virus. With outpatient treatment, his survival rate is 50%. They said it would be better odds for inpatient but they needed payment up front and said it would cost near $6,000, which I simply did not have. I maxed out my credit lines to get him the outpatient care. Me and my Fiancé brought home medications from the vet and will be monitoring him around the clock. It’s the day after and Finley is struggling. We are forcing fluids slowly and letting him rest. He’s been so brave. He’s our little fighter.

Adie is now also at risk as she was not vaccinated in the previous home. She had an appointment with Finley on the 23rd at our local vet (soonest we could get in) for vaccines but now she is compromised. We also have our other older dog Sasuke whom we’ve had for 7 years be exposed. Thankfully Sasuke has always been up to date on his shots. However, we have to split all 3 dogs to limit exposure as Parvo is extremely contagious. This is going to require a lot of time, energy, money, and extra resources to accomplish. We will be taking Adie in tomorrow to the vet as they got her in sooner now. The price is to cover the emergency vet bill from Finley, and protect Adie and Sasuke from their Parvo exposure.
