Help Figaro Heal After a Terrifying Accident

Hi, I’m Kendra, and I’m reaching out with a heavy heart. My dog, Figaro, was recently hit by a car and has been in need of urgent medical care. The costs are overwhelming, I’m struggling to keep up with the bills and they will only continue to pile up in the upcoming weeks.

What happened?

On the night of February 18th, while visiting a friend in Loma Linda, I took my dog, Figaro, for a short walk. He was leashed with a 6ft non-retractable lead, walking beside me in a grassy patch along Shepardson Dr. (pictured) Suddenly, he was spooked by something in the bushes and bolted toward the street.

At that moment, a car speeding at around 40 mph, too close to the curb, hit him. The driver stopped briefly halfway down the street, not to help, but to blame me. They continued to yell at me as I held my screaming dog in the street and was trying to call for help. By the time a few bystanders came over to help me the car had driven away. Thankfully, a witness captured their license plate, and a police report has been filed.

Rushed to the emergency vet, Figaro received immediate care. He stayed overnight for tests, X-rays, and pain management. For days, I was told to prepare for the worst—surgery, amputation, or even euthanasia. But on February 21st, after consulting an orthopedic specialist, we got a miracle: no surgery needed. Instead, Figaro will heal through a series of weekly cast changes, with X-rays at weeks 4 and 8.

For the next two months, he won’t be able to walk, eat, or even go to the bathroom on his own. I’m committed to giving him the best care possible, but the financial burden is overwhelming. If you can, please donate or share his story. Every bit of support means the world.
