Early morning of October 8, 2025, Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers raided my friend Fidel Moreno Bernal's house in Pittsburg, California. The officers claimed they had been informed that there were illegal immigrants living in the house.

In a sudden raid, ICE agents burst into the house and ordered all of them to come out. The scared and stunned family members were gathered at the curb and kept there under close guard, treated as criminals before their neighbors' eyes.

Fidel, his parents, and five other relatives were indoors when they were caught off guard by the ICE agents. Following interrogation, they were all arrested and removed by ICE officials.

Fidel came to America as a child on a visa that ultimately ran out. He has been growing up here and is now finishing high school. He is an upstanding young man and has been working hard to build a life in the only country he knows as home.

The random raid left the house in disarray and the neighborhood traumatized, as neighbors and classmates stood in dumbfounded horror.
