For a few months I had a dry cough I couldn’t seem to kick. I tried different natural remedies, but when none of them worked I decided to visit the western doctors.
That’s when I received the heartbreaking diagnosis: an aggressive form of advanced lung cancer. The same kind that took my father from this world 37 years ago, when he was also 37 years old.
Since then, my life has been a whirlwind of scans, procedures, and changing outlooks as my team of doctors worked quickly to understand what was happening. I had a pleural catheter tube installed in my lung to drain fluid as it accumulates, and genetic testing was done right away.
As it turns out, I have a mutation in one of my genes that causes lung cancer by sending the wrong signals to my cells. This is very likely what my father had also, but testing like this wasn’t available for him in the 80s.
A couple days ago I learned that there is now a medication that can turn off the mutated gene, effectively curing the cancer in about 80% of people—even in advanced cases like mine. My doctors have ordered the medication, and I’ll start taking it as soon as it arrives. If it works for me, I could start to see improvement within a couple of weeks and will be able to have the catheter removed from my chest.
So now the only thing left to do is wait and continue to pray. If it is the will of the divine that this medication works for me, I hope to eventually be able to return to sharing my work of course. But with so many unknowns and my income halted for an unforeseeable amount of time, I’ve created this GoFundMe for those who feel called and are able to support me economically.
Whether you can help out in this way or not, your prayers and healing thoughts are just as valuable to me. Thank you for being with me through this, and for any support you can offer.
