hi, i’m fern. i’m nonbinary and use they/them pronouns.

i’ve spent a long time feeling disconnected from my body, and top surgery is something i need to feel more comfortable and aligned with who i am. this surgery is a deeply personal step toward living as my true self and feeling at home in my own skin.

top surgery would be a life changing step for me, but it comes with significant costs. i will be traveling to Guadalajara, Mexico, to access safe, experienced care. a lot of trans and nonbinary people do not feel safe seeking gender affirming care in the United States right now (myself included) and surgery here without insurance can cost double or even triple what it does in other countries.

i’m planning to schedule surgery once i’ve saved enough to cover costs, this fundraiser is a way for anyone who wants to support me to make that possible.

my fiancé, Critter, will be coming with me to care for me during recovery, and we’ll both need to take about 2.5 weeks off of work. we both work full time, often 40+ hours per week, and are currently paying off debt while saving for our wedding. because of this, any contribution, whether donating or sharing the fundraiser, makes a huge difference and brings this surgery within reach.

every donation will go directly toward the surgery, hospital fees, travel, recovery housing, and basic post-op expenses.
