At the start of a three week vacation with her family in Scotland in late July of this year, 11 year old Fern Wise was diagnosed with Acute Lymphocytic Leukemia. This trip was part of the family's commitment to pursue travel and adventure in the spirit of Will, the father of the family, who died of stomach cancer in 2021. Brothers Cypress and Sylvan's trip was abbreviated and they are home in the care of close friends and family.

Fern is in a 5-7 week chemotherapy course that has kept her mother Heather and Fern in Scotland until Fern's immune system can handle the trip home. At that time, Fern's treatment will continue in the USA over the course of the next two years.

The well-spring of support from a loving community in the form of cards, gifts, prayers and presence in so many forms has been heartwarming and greatly appreciated.
