My name is Heidi Patterson. I’m reaching out asking for support for my incredible bestie, Fern Fine. Some of you know her and many of you don’t. Life has handed her a curve, one that is very shocking. A diagnosis of AML (Acute Myeloid Leukemia) was revealed to us in March 2025. Despite her strength and determination, doctors have confirmed she needs a bone marrow transplant to survive.

Fern is a devoted mother, daughter, grandmother, and friend with a strong will to live a full life.

Being unable to work has caused a huge financial crisis. Bone marrow transplant is scheduled for the end of September 2025. This is just the beginning of a long and demanding recovery journey. She will need to be hospitalized for a minimum of 35 days with intensive follow-up care and constant medical monitoring for a minimum of 100 days upon discharge. Her aftercare requires her to be within 1 mile of Penn Medicine. She is faced with costs for temporary housing, medication, and co-pays for frequent medical appointments since 3/11/25. The struggle is real… I humbly ask for your donations in this fight. The great news is a donor match has been identified and the process is full speed ahead.
