Ferguson, previously named Gogo, showed up on my doorstep two weeks ago after being dumped by who I would assume to be someone in my San Francisco neighborhood. He was infested with fleas, smelled of cigarette smoke, and was completely shut down. The note left with him explained that he is not neutered, and impregnated another cat that lead to a litter of 8 babies. The note says there was no more room left for him, and he needed a new home. After just getting a dog one month ago, I was hesitant to take on this cat but knew in my heart it was what I needed to do. After taking him to the vet, I learned that the mention of allergies for his eyes is actually something diagnosed as double/bilateral entropion; a painful condition in cats where their eyelid rolls inward and scratches the surface of the eye each time they blink. This condition can only be fixed through surgery, which he will be getting at the time he is also scheduled to be neutered on March 3. The cost of taking on a new pet, especially with the cost of living in San Francisco has been a struggle for me. If you would like to follow Ferguson’s story and are able to help with the extensive expenses that bringing this sweet baby into my life has cost me, anything will help. If you are unable to donate, wishful thoughts will be greatly appreciated.
if you prefer to help me directly, my Venmo is @Emily-Singerman , thank you for anything you are able to help with, even just kind supportive thoughts.
