Support Felix's Joyful Life with His Family

Hello everyone. Thank you for taking the time to read our story.

The photo above is our baby boy, Felix. He’s about 3 1/2 months old. Today, October 22, 2024, we found out our sweet boy tested positive for feline leukemia. Our vet told us that the average lifespan of a cat with FL is 2-4 years. However, in talking with folks who have had positive cats before, it seems unlikely they he will live that long.

Our nephew, Maylen was sitting on the front porch one day, after just losing his dog a day or two prior. Felix walked up on the porch and crawled right into his lap. He called and asked if I’d take him and try to help him. Of course I did and he has been doing so well. When we got him, he was only .75 lbs and at today’s appointment he weighed in at 4 lbs. I asked the doctor if we could test him since he’s been isolated from our other 4 cats. We wanted them to be able to hang out and play together. Unfortunately (or fortunately, depending on how you look at it), this is how we came to find out that Felix was positive.

If you’ve read this far, thank you! The point of this gofundme is to help with the costs of vaccinating our 4 other babies. We are determined to give Felix the BEST life possible, for as long as we have him. However, we cannot let him play with the other cats until they’ve been vaccinated. I was quoted $700+ to vaccinate them and we just don’t have that right now. We want Felix to live his best life and we believe that is best done while playing and snuggling with his brothers and sister.

If you’d like to contribute, we would greatly appreciate it. We just want to give him the best life we can, while also protecting our other “kids” from catching the virus. If you know us, you know how much we love our cats. They’re our children and we love them so much. It breaks my heart to know that Felix’s life will be cut short, especially if he has to live it in isolation.

I will be happy to provide receipts to show where the money is going. If there is anything left over, it will be donated to an animal shelter to be determined later.

I appreciate you all taking a moment to read our story. Thank you for your time in advance.
