My husband Felix has always been the one to help others. As a nurse, he gives his time freely, day and night, to anyone who needs him. He has been deeply moved by the outpouring of support from family, friends, and former patients since he announced his diagnosis of aggressive Multiple Myeloma in January 2026. “My heroes tell me I can win and I believe them.” Is his battle cry. Felix calls us his heroes, but in truth, he is the biggest hero most of us know—and we can’t lose our heroes.
Most people don’t know how to encourage someone who is always there for others, but many are now giving back the same advice Felix once gave them, and it’s working. He believes he can win because we believe in him. It’s funny, considering the source of the advice. Still, there is real fear, denial, and an unknown financial burden that comes with this diagnosis. We pray daily for guidance and a positive response to treatment.
Medication copays can be an additional burden of $2500+ each month. Treatment will include many additional expenses such as the cost of treatment itself, temporary housing near medical facilities, a complete dietary change, lost wages, unforeseen expenses, and constant travel expenses.
Felix is a very proud person and doesn’t know how to be the “patient” or even ask for help. His family and friends have insisted on doing this for him, so please help us show love and support to this man who doesn’t know the meaning of the word “quit.” His stubborn mind won’t let him lose this fight. Thank you to everyone who has shown up when he silently needed them most.
