A COMMUNITY IN CRISIS NEEDS YOU NOW

Minneapolis residents are facing a growing food crisis. Fear and disruption from illegal federal enforcement operations are preventing many families from accessing groceries and SNAP benefits, leaving people without reliable food sources—especially those who are homebound, elderly, caring for young children, or frightened to leave their homes. Residents across the Minneapolis area know that Feed Minneapolis is there for them on the ground, providing tangible support and reassurance that they will not go hungry.

Feed Minneapolis is the brainchild of activists Andy Behrman and Sean Thibodeau, launched to confront an urgent hunger crisis in the Minneapolis area. The organization raises funds nationally and distributes them directly to trusted local food shelves, pantries, and kitchens serving the Minneapolis area, ensuring residents receive food quickly, safely, with dignity, and delivered to their front doors. Feed Minneapolis has set an immediate goal of feeding 10,000 people within its first two weeks.

WHY THIS MATTERS NOW

As you know, since early January 2026, Minneapolis has been subjected to Operation Metro Surge, a sweeping federal enforcement operation that has flooded the region with more than 3,000 ICE agents.

On January 7, ICE shot and killed Renée Nicole Good, a 37-year-old Minneapolis resident. On January 24, agents killed Alex Jeffrey Pretti, a 37-year-old ICU nurse who worked at the Minneapolis Veterans Affairs Hospital. Both were innocent civilians.

The fear and trauma from these deaths have rippled through entire neighborhoods. Many residents—regardless of immigration status—are now afraid to leave their homes to buy food or access services. Disruptions to SNAP benefits have compounded the crisis, pushing already vulnerable families deeper into food insecurity. At Feed Minneapolis, we want to help neighbors no matter their citizenship status.

Community members, organizers, and volunteers have responded with extraordinary resilience—monitoring enforcement activity where legally permissible, delivering food and essential supplies in brutal winter conditions, and organizing mutual-aid efforts. These frontline efforts need sustained support to continue.

WHERE YOUR DONATION GOES

Monetary donations are critical right now and are often the most effective way to help. They allow food-assistance organizations to purchase food in bulk, fund delivery services for homebound residents, respond quickly to emerging needs, and provide culturally appropriate foods that respect dietary traditions and community needs.

Funds are distributed to trusted, established food-assistance organizations: Groveland Emergency Food Shelf, Minnehaha Food Shelf, Calvary Food Shelf, Harvest from the Heart Resource Center, East Side Neighborhood Services, NorthPoint Community Food Shelf, Good Works Food Shelf (Rescue Now Services), Open Arms of Minnesota, and Second Harvest Heartland. In addition to the distribution of funds, Feed Minneapolis will be on the ground working with these organizations to get food and supplies to people in need.

YOUR SUPPORT MATTERS

Every donation helps feed families, sustain organizers doing essential work, and show Minneapolis residents—especially those who are homebound, anxious, or struggling to access resources—that they are not alone.

No raffles, sweepstakes, giveaways, or promotions are offered in exchange for any donations made to this GoFundMe.
