In a federal state, the member states are and remain sovereign and entrust some of their powers to a federal body to look after their general interest. They retain their own governing system and cultural identity; they do not lose sovereignty. On the contrary, they gain something extra, namely that interests are taken care of which they cannot look after on their own.
That is why federal state formation is a unique means of resolving conflicts between states and peoples. In order to establish peace in this way. It is time to start using this means on a large scale. Talking and writing about federalism is good. Making federal state formation is better.
That's why we founded the Federalism for Peace Foundation. In cooperation with the Federal Alliance of European Federalists, we are taking up concrete federalization projects.
We are already working on them. In mid-April, the Foundation will present a report to the Human Rights Council of the United Nations on the Moluccan case: the illegal liquidation of the federal constitution of the United States of Indonesia in 1950, followed by the oppression and exploitation of the Moluccan people for seventy years. With facts and arguments that have not been published before, the Foundation asks the UN to reopen this cold case and force Indonesia to reverse the illegal decision-making of 1950.
Today 40% of the world's population lives in 27 federal states. Our Mission is:
o with the knowledge of correct federal state formation
o and with the deployment of teams from the Federal Alliance of European Federalists
o by the year 2023
o letting more than 50% of the world's population live in federal states
Help us, donate (anonymous is possible) and contribute to the projects we have published on the website. For more information see www.federalismforpeace.org.
