Support Beth’s Cancer Journey

Hello, my name is Amy and I am sharing my incredible twin sister’s cancer story. Beth went to her doctor’s office back in November of 2021 because she had found a lump in her left breast. After performing a mammogram and ultrasound they determined that it was nothing to be concerned about. With that peace of mind she went about living her life without worry. Fast forward 1 year, November of 2022, she found another lump, this time in her armpit. She went in for another mammogram and ultrasound as this new discovery had her thinking about the possibility of breast cancer. The results came back inconclusive. They reassured Beth that likely the lump she was feeling was simply a side effect of the flu shot she received a few weeks prior. They advised that she wait to see if the lymph node goes down. Her inner self told her not to wait!! She was scheduled for a MRI with contrast on January 13, 2023. This was the day we learned about her devastating diagnosis. They determined she had stage 3 triple negative breast cancer. The news hit us like a ton of bricks as we really hadn’t had a large family history of breast cancer. What did this diagnosis mean? For those of you that are not familiar with triple negative breast cancer, it is the most aggressive breast cancer diagnosed. Stage 3 meant the breast cancer has now spread beyond the breast and was found in her axillary lymph nodes. What did treatment for her stage and type of cancer look like? Long! She would endure 12 weeks of chemotherapy, followed by 4 treatments of aggressive chemotherapy, a double mastectomy, and then radiation to boot. Beth has courageously completed the first 12 weeks of her chemotherapy like a superhero. We felt relieved that this milestone had come and gone successfully. That’s unfortunately when she learned that after a 12 week leave of absence from work, that any additional time moving forward would now be classified under the short term disability umbrella and that she would no longer have medical insurance. Cancer is devastating, both mentally and physically. To complete her treatment plan she will be unable to work for at least an additional 4 months. The medical expenses have already started to pour in, and that was with insurance. She is frantically trying to figure out where to go from from here. I am asking from the bottom of my heart for anyone that is able to, to please help Beth with some of this heavy burden. For those that know her she is the kindest, most warm hearted, funny, determined person on the planet. I love her to the moon, and know how much she will appreciate any amount’s contributed. For those that are unable to provide support in a monetary way, please do so by sharing her story. Thank you to all of you that took the time to read this. God bless all of you. ❤️
