“As a mother, there is no greater feeling than watching your child achieve their dreams — Fayth is headed to Michigan State University
I am asking for support for my daughter, Fayth Solomon, as she prepares to begin her college journey.
Fayth was raised on the South Side of Chicago near 104th and Aberdeen and attended Marcus Garvey Elementary School, where she graduated as Valedictorian. From kindergarten through eighth grade, Fayth maintained straight A's and demonstrated a strong dedication to her education.
Fayth is currently a student at Gwendolyn Brooks College Prep, where she serves as the captain of the tennis team. Throughout all four years of high school, Fayth has remained an A student while balancing academics, athletics, and leadership roles within her school.
Her academic success has not come easily. Fayth has spent many long nights studying and pushing herself to maintain her grades. She constantly challenges herself to be the best at everything she does and has always been determined never to fail herself or her goals.
Fayth has also been actively involved in her school community. She has participated in the swim team, served as a member of student administration and student council, and helped represent the voices of students by working with school leadership to improve the school environment and organize activities and field trips.
Service to others has always been important to Fayth. She has volunteered with Women of Determination to support single mothers during back-to-school events. She has also served alongside her grandmother at church and volunteered with the Be Kind Movement, helping deliver Christmas gifts to senior citizen homes where more than 120 seniors were blessed during the holiday season.
Fayth's journey has not always been easy. Her strongest father figure was her grandfather, Clifford Solomon 3rd. He meant the world to Fayth and was a guiding presence in her life. Sadly, in 2025, Mr. Solomon passed away from cancer, but Fayth continues to carry his love, strength, and lessons with her.
As a single mother, life has presented many challenges. I promised myself that I would work tirelessly to give my daughter the life she deserves. Today, I work long days delivering mail, often from 7 in the morning until 9 or 10 at night, doing everything I can to provide for my child and support her dreams.
Despite everything, Fayth has always been a source of strength in our household. She helps her mother daily by cooking, cleaning, and assisting whenever she can because she understands how hard her mother works to provide for her.
Fayth's hard work and dedication have opened many doors. She has been accepted to several colleges and universities across the United States, including Historically Black Colleges and Universities. After careful consideration, Fayth plans to study psychology so that she can help strengthen mental health support for Black families and communities. Her goal is to use her education to help others overcome challenges and build stronger lives.
As a mother, it is not always easy to ask for help, but I am humbly reaching out to local businesses, churches, organizations, and members of our community to help support Fayth's college journey.
Any contribution, no matter the size, will go directly toward Fayth's college tuition and educational expenses.
Thank you for taking the time to read Fayth's story and for supporting young people in our community. Your kindness and generosity would mean more to our family than words can express!
Thank you!
