My dear friend of 7 years, Yasir Fabricio “Favio” Castillo, has been fighting a difficult battle with Type 1 Diabetes and End Stage Renal Disease (ESRD) for several years. His condition requires him to undergo dialysis four times a week, four hours per session—a grueling routine that takes a toll physically, emotionally, and financially.

Through it all, Favio continues to inspire everyone around him with his positive spirit. Despite his challenges, he always tells me he is “blessed and thankful just to be alive.” His faith in God, love for his wife Rubi, and devotion to his four beautiful children give him strength each day.

Unfortunately, his health has declined recently, leading to multiple hospitalizations. Favio is the sole provider for his family, working at a local rental car facility. But between hospital stays and dialysis, he has been forced to take significant unpaid time off, leaving the family struggling to cover basic living expenses. Rent and utilities have become an overwhelming burden.

Favio has always amazed me with his incredible work ethic—even on days when he felt absolutely terrible. He told me recently that being with his family is his “heaven.” I want to do everything I can to make sure his family remains secure and supported during this fight.
