Bring My Mom Home: Fatou Traore’s Legal Defense Fund
My name is Esoumaila Diallo. My mom, Fatou Traore, was deported to Sierra Leone on October 13, separating her from me and my three younger siblings. We are raising money to fight for her safety, support our family, and bring her home.
My mom has lived in the United States for 25 years. She is a hospital worker, where she was represented by AFSCME Local 12, and the mother of four U.S. citizen children. Our youngest sibling is just three years old.
In 2011, an immigration judge granted her protection from deportation to Ivory Coast. But ICE detained her on her way to work in September and deported her to a different country - Sierra Leone - before a judge ruled on her emergency request to stop her removal.
Now, our family is fighting to keep her safe and reunite her with her children. Your donation will help cover her legal defense; food, rent, and utility assistance for my mom and our family; and ongoing organizing expenses to fuel the fight to bring her home.
Hundreds of people have rallied for my mom. Neighbors, coworkers, union members, faith leaders, and elected officials from both parties have spoken up for her. Our family is grateful for everyone who has stood beside us.
But we still need our mom home.
Please donate what you can and share this fundraiser with your friends, family, coworkers, and congregation. Every contribution helps us keep fighting.
Thank you for standing with my mom and our family.
