Help Me And My Family

My name is Demetrius Wells, and after serving 5 years in prison, I came home determined to rebuild my life and be the husband and father my family deserves.

The transition has been harder than I ever imagined. After being robbed financially and misled by my lawyer, I was released with almost nothing. Since then, I’ve been struggling to find stable work that pays enough to support my family.

My wife is a hardworking CNA who does everything she can for our family, and together we are raising 7 beautiful children. Right now, my wife and children are staying at her parent's house because we have nowhere else to go. Unfortunately, the environment there has been difficult for them, breaks my heart as a father.

My wife and I sleep in our van after she gets off work in the morning. We are not asking for a handout because we refuse to work — we work hard every day and are doing everything we can to land back on our feet. But right now, we are drowning financially, and our van is close to breaking down, which is our only ride to doctors appointments, grocery store, and school evnts.

Making this fundraiser is honestly humiliating for me, but my pride is not more important than my children’s safety and stability.

We are trying to raise $50,000 to:

•Secure stable housing for our family

•Purchase a reliable vehicle

•Cover moving and emergency expenses

•Give our children a safe, peaceful home again
