After nearly 2 decades of selfless work to his job, my father was unexpectedly let go, leaving our family not only without a steady income, but also without health insurance. This has been especially difficult, because my brothers live with Type 1 Diabetes and depend on daily life-sustaining insulin as well as regular doctor visits to stay healthy. Without coverage, the cost of these essentials has become overwhelming and my family is struggling to keep up. My dad has always been the kind of person who works hard, puts his family first, and helps others whenever he can. This sudden loss comes on the heels of another heartbreaking hardship — in November 2025, we lost our beloved grandmother after her long battle with Alzheimer's. She lived with my parents until the time of her passing, with my mother being her sole caretaker for many years. As we continue to grieve her passing, my family is now facing this overwhelming and incredibly abrupt transition while he searches for new employment.
