Hello, my name is Lynette. Newfoundland holds a very special place in my heart—I spend much of my time on the Avalon Peninsula, in Conception Bay North. My dad Mike is co-hosting this fundraiser as this is also a special place for him. The main beneficiary of the fundraiser is my cousin Connie King and my Aunt Linda Kennell
This summer has been devastating for the community. A record-breaking wildfire has torn through the region, already consuming over 9,500 hectares. Sadly, more than 100 structures are estimated to be lost—many of them homes that families have cherished for generations.
While government and community resources are in place, support often takes time to reach those in need. In the meantime, many families urgently require help with temporary housing, clothing, essential supplies, and day-to-day living costs. This fundraiser will provide some relief for our families and friends impacted.
Our goal with this fundraiser is to provide immediate financial relief to family and friends who have lost their homes or are currently displaced. We’ve set an initial target of $2,500, though we are hopeful that, with your generosity, we can surpass this and extend support even further.
As updates come in, we will share details on how funds are being distributed so that you can see the direct impact of your kindness.
Every donation, no matter the amount, makes a difference. Thank you for helping us support those who need it most during this difficult time.
Lynette Kelly and Mike Sheppard
**update**
To help satisfy GoFundMe terms and conditions and for clarity, the funds will be transferred to me, and then I'll forward them onto Connie directly. They'll be used at her discretion but will be used to replace clothing, furniture, and other necessities lost in the fire.
