Hello, my name is Ratna Ucida. I am a breast cancer patient currently living in Los Angeles California United States. When I was first diagnosed, I did not have medical insurance. My friend encouraged me to create a GoFundMe for my treatment, but I refused because I felt embarrassed and didn’t want to feel like I was begging. Thank God, my insurance was finally approved, even though I had already postponed my chemotherapy because I could not afford it.

Even though I am still struggling with both my health and finances, my heart is hurting for something even bigger right now — the devastating floods happening in Indonesia.

Why I’m Raising Funds

The recent floods in Indonesia have caused unimaginable destruction.

• More than 1,000 people have lost their lives

• Over 500 people are still missing

• Many areas have been flooded for more than 15 days

• Landslides and heavy mud have blocked transportation

• Emergency teams cannot reach many villages

• Thousands of families have lost their homes, food, and clean water

The floodwaters keep returning in some places, and the situation is getting worse every day. My government has not declared it a national disaster yet, which makes the response even more difficult. My heart is broken watching my people suffer.

I am far from home, battling cancer, but all I can think about are the families in Indonesia who are crying for help. I feel sad, frustrated, and helpless because I cannot be there.

So instead of asking for help for myself, I am using this GoFundMe to help the victims of the flood. Every donation will go directly to support survivors who have lost everything.
