Hey there! 

My name is Faith, and I am a community organizer and activist in Urbana, Illinois. I graduated from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 2023 with a B.S. in environmental science.

In 2016, I was primarily diagnosed with C-PTSD and OCD after surviving more than a decade of domestic violence as a child. The physical toll complex trauma has had on my body is heavy: unrelenting nightmares, dissociation, memory loss, severe IBS, and TMJ are expensive symptoms to manage. I have a couple of secondary diagnoses, including PMDD.

The physicality of my trauma requires more intensive care, so I decided to begin EMDR treatment after five years of CBT. Years of blood tests, electrocardiograms, and specialists have left me with a significant financial burden.

I am in $1,000 deep in medical debt from months of unpaid therapy bills. I still must schedule a colonoscopy and begin a new chapter in my healing process.

Being on the other side of a GoFundMe is a new experience - asking for help in this way is not easy. I am endlessly grateful to my community and my support network for the patience, compassion, and love they have shown me. My eight-year-old self could not fathom the safety and kindness I have as an adult. She would be so proud of me for knowing the people I do and fighting for my well-being and our collective wellness.
