Support Fabi's Fight Against Cancer

UPDATE: Fabi gained her angel wings on February 26, 2025. She was surrounded by family, friends, and many people who loved her dearly. Thank you so much for walking through this journey with Fabi and for your ongoing support, prayers and love. On February 18th, our Fabi (Fabiana Carvalho) began experiencing severe back pain and trouble breathing. After a trip to the ER they found that a cancer mass in her spine caused fractures to her upper and lower back. Additional tests and scans have found that her cancer has also spread to her kidneys, brain, breasts. We are still awaiting results of a liver biopsy and they are still running a few more tests. She has been receiving critical care at Bronson since then. If you feel so led to contribute monetarily to help offset the many medical bills her family have already acquired and will continue to acquire with her stay, pain medication, continued tests and care, I KNOW that would be much appreciated. Your prayers and support are a huge blessing as well.

Fabi, is lovingly referred to in our (small but mighty) Brazilian community of Kalamazoo as "The Presidenta". She is the life of the party! She continuously organizes events and meet-ups where we've built community, supported one another and shared our culture. She loves community and has single-handedly built a huge, loving, inclusive and supportive space for Brazilians, immigrants, as well as many Kalamazoo "locals" - in true Brazilian fashion, "anyone and everyone is always welcome" in her circles, events and community-builders. She promotes locally-owned businesses through statewide networks, supports local entrepreneurs, and can name every single shop and restaurant in town. She is the most amazing grandma to 3-year-old, Marina. When I asked her husband Russell if he wanted to share anything about Fabi, he said she brings so much love, joy and a new adventure to the table every single day.
