Support Ezra's Journey to Defeat Leukemia

Donation protected
Dear friends, family, and kind-hearted supporters,

This is Melissa and Carlos, writing on behalf of our first born little man. Our sweet and energetic 4-year-old was recently diagnosed with B-cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (B-ALL). This heartbreaking news came after weeks of noticing his pale skin, low energy, loss of appetite, and complaining of back pain. I could just tell something was off with him, and doing certain movements like going down a slide or falling down made him cry in pain. We knew he had anemia after a finger prick during a checkup, but we never imagined that it would lead to something as serious as leukemia. I took him to the doctor after the slide incident because I was convinced he pulled something in his back from playing. I also casually mentioned his anemia and asked for some blood work. Later on that evening, his doctor called us and told us to take Ezra to the hospital immediately because his blood panel had alarmingly low levels, and she was concerned it could be leukemia. We dropped everything and drove to the children’s hospital where we have been admitted.

Ezra’s Diagnosis and Treatment Plan

On February 26th, doctors confirmed that Ezra has B-ALL, the most common type of childhood leukemia. While this was devastating to hear, we were told that it was caught early and that he has a 95% chance of beating it with the proper treatment. This cancer multiplies secretly in the bone marrow for months before anyone can notice something is wrong. It just happened by chance and nothing could have been done to prevent it from happening.

Ezra has already undergone multiple blood transfusions to help stabilize his body, and on Friday, Feb 28th, he will undergo surgery to have a port placed in his chest for chemotherapy. During this procedure, doctors will also perform a bone marrow biopsy and spinal tap to determine the stage of his leukemia. That same day, he will begin an aggressive chemotherapy plan that will continue for at least two years.

About Ezra

Ezra makes friends everywhere he goes. He approaches people, gives compliments, and is so curious about everything. He has a vivid imagination and loves to play pretend. He wants to be a doctor, construction vehicle operator, and Target team member when he grows up. He is such a loving big brother to Austin, his 18-month-old little brother. Anything he puts his mind to, he excels at. Astrobot on the PS5 has been keeping him entertained while we wait in the hospital.

How You Can Help

While we are hopeful and staying strong for Ezra, this journey will be physically, emotionally, and financially challenging. Between hospital stays, treatments, medications, travel expenses, and time off work to care for Ezra, the financial burden is overwhelming. We want to ensure that Ezra receives the best possible care without the added stress of financial hardship.

Any donation, no matter how small, will go directly toward:

Travel and lodging for hospital visits

Medications and specialized care

Daily living expenses while we focus on Ezra’s recovery

Anything we can get to monitor Ezra at home and help him feel comfortable

Most importantly, if you’re unable to donate, we ask for your prayers, love, and support during this incredibly difficult time. Ezra is a fighter, and with faith, medical care, and your support, we believe he will come out of this stronger than ever.

From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for standing with us. Please share Ezra’s story and help us spread the word. Together, we can help Ezra beat leukemia.
