Ezra Caudell and his family are facing an incredibly difficult time after Ezra was involved in a catastrophic accident during the Philadelphia Classic Cycling Road Race. Ezra suffered major trauma to his lungs and head and is currently in the ICU at Jefferson Einstein Philadelphia Hospital, where he is receiving incredible care from his doctors and medical team. This fundraiser is being organized by Tamara Gollob, a close family friend of the Caudell family, on behalf of Ezra and his family. All donations raised through this GoFundMe will be deposited directly into an account belonging to Ezra’s father, Levi Caudell, so the family can use the funds for expenses related to Ezra’s hospitalization, recovery, travel, accommodations, and other needs during this time. The Caudells had recently moved to Germany to support Ezra’s cycling career and goals, but Georgia has always been home. Following the accident, Ezra’s parents and sister had to travel from Germany to Philadelphia at a moment’s notice so they could be by his side while he remains in intensive care. Being so far from home has added another layer of difficulty to an already overwhelming situation. The family is facing hotel stays, meals away from home, international and domestic travel expenses, medical costs, transportation, and many other unforeseen expenses. Ezra’s recovery is expected to be a long journey, and our hope is to allow his family to focus as much of their attention as possible on being there for him. Friends of the family are asking the cycling community, along with friends, family, and anyone moved to help, to come alongside the Caudells during this time. Cyclists understand how quickly an accident can happen and how significant the physical, emotional, and financial burden of recovery can become. The family has also been surrounded by an incredible amount of love and support from Ezra’s team, Modern Adventure Pro Cycling, including his coaches, support staff, teammates, and the wider cycling community. That support has meant more than words can express during these overwhelming days. All funds raised will go directly to Levi Caudell, Ezra’s father, and will be used by the family to help cover travel, lodging, meals, transportation, medical expenses, and other costs associated with Ezra’s hospitalization and recovery.
