Ezra and Joanna are missionaries in Brazil, together with their four children. On Monday, July 29, 2024, while en route with most of their belongings on a river boat, a fire broke out leading to the destruction of the vessel and tragic loss of several lives. Most of the passengers were rescued, including Ezra and Joanna’s family, with minor injuries. They are without any personal belongings, including documents. Please keep them in prayer as well as all who were affected by this disaster.

Usage of funds

Any and all funds contributed through this GoFundMe campaign will go directly to Ezra and Joanna via their checking account (Ezra has access to this via a debit card), and be used to arrange for housing, replacement of lost personal property (phones/computer, clothing, household necessities, toys/comfort items for the children, etc), and travel expenses as they navigate this transition.

About the organizers

Zachary Klein is Joanna [Klein]'s older brother, and Lydia [Brainard] Caudill is Ezra's younger sister. We are coordinating this campaign together and all decisions regarding funds transfer and updates are shared among the organizing team.
