Help Bring Vision Care to the Roof of the World – Spiti Valley, India
High in the remote Himalayas, at over 12,000 feet above sea level, lies Spiti Valley—a breathtaking region often called “Little Tibet.” Here, winters are long, summers short, and access to basic healthcare is extremely limited. For the people of Spiti, the nearest eye specialist can be hundreds of kilometers away, over treacherous mountain roads that are often closed for months due to snow.
Eye problems—many of them preventable or treatable—are left unchecked. Cataracts, glaucoma, and vision loss silently rob people of their independence. Children struggle in school because they can’t see the blackboard. Elders lose the ability to work, read, or recognize loved ones.
We want to change that.
Our goal is to establish Spiti’s first Primary Eye Care Center, equipped to:
Provide free or affordable eye checkups for all ages
Detect and manage common eye diseases early
Fit glasses so children can see and learn
Refer serious cases to specialist hospitals in time
Train local healthcare workers in basic vision screening
Why it matters:
In Spiti, good eyesight isn’t just about vision—it’s about education, livelihood, and dignity. By bringing care to where people live, we can prevent needless blindness and improve lives for generations.
Your contribution will help us:
Set up a fully functional eye care room with basic diagnostic tools
Train local staff and community volunteers
Provide essential medicines, spectacles, and outreach camps to remote villages
Even a small donation can make a lasting difference:
$10 provides a vision screening for 5 people
$25 buys a pair of prescription glasses
$100 sponsors a village eye camp
Together, we can help the people of Spiti Valley see the world clearly again.
Please donate and share—because in these mountains, every pair of eyes we save changes a life.
