Our friend and family member, Ewa, a single mom to a 10 year old daughter, has been diagnosed with an aggressive B-cell lymphoma. Over the next 6-18 months, she will undergo chemotherapy and recovery, which means stepping away temporarily from her work and putting all of her energy into healing.

Because she is self employed, Ewa does not qualify for regular Employment Insurance and does not have private insurance or disability benefits. Without friends and family rallying support, she is left to manage the financial strain of every day life while also dealing with her physical and emotional challenges of this new cancer diagnosis and treatment. Expenses such as housing, groceries, utilities, and treatment-related costs continue, and the burden quickly adds up.
