My name is Sabina Reina and I am raising funds for Evelyn Heckman, my dear close friend of many years, so we call her Evie...
Back in February, Evie was diagnosed with lung cancer after just beating carcinoma cancer the year before. The doctor said they caught it in time and they would do radiation as they did for her carcinoma. Four days of radiation should take care of it. Evie continued to work during her radiation therapy, but soon after that, she started feeling ill, weak, not able to eat, and had no energy. Despite all those symptoms, she continued to work as a transit driver in Victoria. She worked until she could not work anymore. She came home one day after work, fell asleep in her vehicle, woke up, and could barely make it inside her home. The next day, she went to the doctor and was diagnosed with pneumonia. Fluid was filling her lungs and around her heart. Evie was admitted to the hospital and started treatment for pneumonia. Knowing that she had just had radiation for lung cancer, doctors went back and did another MRI. It came back that the spot in her lung that was cancer was growing, so radiation did not work. So now Evie is in the hospital, not able to work, and is battling cancer for the second time in her life.
Evie is a warrior. She's battled cancer, heart surgery, stroke, and now lung cancer. She's determined to fight this as well, but it has taken a toll on her. For someone who is used to working every day, being on top of her bills, and taking care of herself, this is very hard for her. She keeps worrying about her cat at home and her bills more than she worries about her own health. So I'm starting a GoFundMe account to help her with her medical bills and her bills at home so that she is not worried about going back to work but focusing more on getting well.
Evie's been a transit driver for many years, picking up people and taking them to their appointments. People that are in wheelchairs, people that have trouble walking, she's out there rain, snow, or shine; nothing ever stops her. So she may have even picked you or your family members up in transit. So I'm asking if anyone can donate for Evie to help her with this battle of cancer. Anything is truly appreciated. May God bless you and thank you for listening.
