Hey Friends and Family, we’re so excited to announce our very own Evelyn-Grace Williams aka Evie has been accepted with a partial scholarship to iTheatrics Broadway Jr. Summer Theater Intensive.
Evie has been dancing since she started walking, and she’s been singing ever since she could hold a microphone in her hand.
As an 8 year old, Evie made, what was then a tough decision to step away from years of dance training in order to focus on the more challenging art form of singing and dance. She earned herself a performance summer scholarship from the International Young Americans Program.
Evie, still an 8 year old auditioned at CAT, Christian Arts and Theater and was cast in her first show, Junie B. Jones Jr. and she’s been cast in every show since then.
Evie has been cast in two short films, and she even received a call back for a role reading of the Secret Garden at the Ahmanson Theater. Unfortunately, she was not cast for that performance but the experience was incredible none the less.
Since then, Evie earned a 4th place soloist award out of 67 national kids in her age range at MTCA, Musical Theater Competition of America. Her song as you saw in the video, was selected to perform live in front of the 2023 Junior Theater Festival (JTF).
As Evie enters Hillcrest High School next semester, she will be singing with the Junior/Senior Varsity choir as a 9th grader.
Evie will continue to sing with the Ambassadors over the summer and on any given Sunday you can find her singing at her church.
But what’s all this iTheatrics Broadway Jr. Summer Theater Intensive stuff all about, you might be asking? Well it’s an opportunity to work with Broadway Theater professionals on a new adaption of a Tony-award winning musical that will be released and made available to schools and theater companies in the near future.
Evie earned the right to audition and she created an audition tape. However, she was feeling like the timing was a bit off with her Grandfather’s life altering stroke, and the financial implication that would take affect if she was chosen. And like most teenage girls, she just wasn’t feeling confident enough to think that she could possibly be chosen out of the thousands of theater students who would be auditioning across the country.
But my sister Monica was not going to let Evie give up on her dream so quickly knowing that if my dad could talk he would say "Send that audition tape in anyway." And without mentioning it to Evie, my sister sent it in knowing that if nothing came of it, it would be ok because Evie did not know she was sending it in.
And here we are, Evie was chosen out of thousands of auditions from around the country to participate in this weeklong program in New York.
I don’t have to tell anyone reading this how expensive 10+ days in New York will be. Evie will not be able to fly to New York alone let alone stay there by herself so we are raising funds to help get Evie and Monica to New York.
Friends and family, I am putting this Go Fund Me together to help my sister Monica, and most importantly to ensure Evie NEVER gives up on her dream! I want both Evie, and Monica to fully immerse themselves into the experience and to enjoy the opportunity with a little less stress as Evie takes the next steps to fulfill her Broadway dreams.
As you all know Monica is living off a teacher’s salary which is good, but does not always provide for the extras. This is EXTRA, I know. But it’s an opportunity we just can’t let Evie and or Monica pass up!
Your donation will help ensure a safe place for the family to stay, provide some modest meals, and perhaps give them the opportunity to catch a real live Broadway show or two while in New York this summer. Time is of the essence, Evie's journey begins July 13th - July 23rd.
No gift is too great or too small. And if you are unable to give, please share this link with someone who can.
Thank you, we appreciate you, and we can’t wait to see our Girl Evie in the spotlight!
