Our names are Evie and Sam Peterson and we are raising lambs this summer through the 4-H Jr. Livestock program. Previously, our older sister, Josie, raised lambs with our neighbor, Elsa Futch. This year, Josie has been able to guide us through this process as we ventured out on our own. We have undertaken this responsibility and recruited our siblings to help us along the way as every day we feed, water, and walk our lambs about 2 miles a day. Other tasks include educational events, keeping track of finances, and fundraising (hence this Go Fund Me!). At the end of the summer, we show and auction off our lambs at the Summit County Fair. We've been attending a lamb class on Tuesday evenings in Kamas to prepare us for that. It's been a challenge to prepare them for the fair, but this has helped us learn how to handle the lambs without the lead, turn them, move them around, and build trust with them as well as confidence in ourselves.

Most lambs are purchased by an outside party through a donation to 4-H. Our goal with this fundraiser is to raise enough money by August 10 to buy at least one lamb. Your contribution will go to one of the 4-H members who worked hard to raise their lamb. These students then typically use the money they have earned to pay for their education. The remaining money is given to the 4-H organization so they can continue to help local kids learn valuable lessons through the responsibility of raising livestock, just as we did. Not only could your donation help local kids pay for their education, it also can provide the opportunity for other kids to learn and benefit from the experience that we have had!
