Support Ever's Path to Medicine

Matthew 25:40 (NIV): “The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.'"

Hello! My name is Amani Wang, and I’m a sophomore at Southern Adventist University, majoring in Biology Pre-Med. I’m writing on behalf of my boyfriend, Ever—an international student from Brazil and one of the most driven, compassionate people I know. He was recently accepted to his dream school: Loma Linda University School of Medicine (LLUSM), where he hopes to begin classes this upcoming Fall.

Ever came to the U.S. in 2018, leaving behind his home, friends, and family—all he's ever known. Why? To pursue a future in medicine here in the U.S., the path he believes God is calling him to be on. His parents, both doctors in Brazil, have worked hard to support him all these years. Nevertheless, the financial reality for international students from Brazil is difficult and demanding, especially when he is required to deposit an advanced payment of $72,000.00—a mandatory requirement for international students.

Since he is not a U.S. citizen, Ever cannot apply for federal loans or easily secure financial assistance. Moreover, with Brazil’s currency worth just one-sixth of the U.S. dollar, this financial burden on his family has grown to be overwhelming, and even more so with his younger brother starting college this Fall.

Ever’s dream isn’t just to be a doctor to help others, but to heal and serve in God’s name with the gifts and capabilities he has been blessed with. LLUSM’s mission "To make man whole" aligns with his heart for service, which has been demonstrated through his active participation in church and mission in his life. Because of how I've witnessed God work through him, I too believe that this is where he has been called to be.
