Support Evelyn's Fight Against Rare Condition

Hello everyone,

My name is Katie and I am Evelyn's momma. I never thought I would have to make one of these let alone for my sweet baby girl. Anyone who knows Ev knows she is one of the absolute sweetest- most loving, caring, and accepting children on the planet. She is full of life and love and impacts anyone she comes in contact with in the most positive and uplifting way. She is truly a beacon of light. The support, love, and kind words we have already received has melted my heart and shown us just how loved our girl is and how much support she has behind her! For those who don't know already Evelyn had a medical emergency about a week ago 5/10/24 in our home of Bozeman, MT. After a few days in MT we were life flighted to Children's Hospital of Colorado here in Aurora, CO Monday evening due to her worsening medical condition. Once we arrived Evie was scheduled for eye surgery Tuesday evening for what is known as an Amniotic Membrane Graft on both eyes to repair the damage caused by MIRM(mycoplasma induced rash and mucositis)/SJS (Steven Johnson Syndrome) & Mycoplasma Pneumonie(bacteria) Not only to repair but to also protect for any further complications later on in life for her. Her next evaluation will be Friday 5/24/24 to check her progress and hopefully remove the sutures. Evelyn also has open sores/lesions on about 50% of her body which we have been told are just like having 2nd degree burns on her body. The Burn Care unit has tried to stay on top of her care to make her as comfortable as possible and we're staying on top of her pain every day every hour as best we can. All of this is a very rare reaction to the type of Bacteria and only happens in 10-20% of all patients. The lesions are also internal due to her Mucositis as well which attacks the mucus lining hence why her eyes, mouth, throat, and GI tract have all been affected as well. She has been on oxygen and a feeding tube as well due to these complications. Before any of this Evelyn was the healthiest 8 year old little girl and hadn't been to a hospital in years. We don't really know or understand how or why this happened to my baby but all we can do now is get her through this and get her healed and healthy again!

I've been asked a lot how anyone can help out financially and if I had a GoFundMe link so I figured this would be the easiest way for anyone who wanted to help during this heartbreaking and challenging time for our family. Do not feel obligated in any way to donate as prayers, positive thoughts, and healing love are just as important! We cant thank everyone enough so far for the overwhelming love and support we have been given! My girl is beyond resilient and strong and is an absolute warrior!

In total I believe we will have about 3 weeks- potentially a month of in hospital care (worst case scenario) and then afterwards several weeks of follow-up appointments and care back in MT between Bozeman and Billings. Any help at all with medical bills, travel costs, and life expenses/bills while we focus on Ev I could never put in to words the gratitude and appreciation. This is completely out of our comfort zone but sometimes you have to put your pride aside and realize asking for help isn't a weakness but a strength and nothing to feel embarrassment for especially when it's for your child. Ev is my one and only and all I care about is getting her back to her vibrant, loving, confident, healthy self!
