Support Eva's Journey to Get Back on the Road

Last night (July 27, 2024) a car broke down in lane two of 95 South. We narrowly dodged it but the cars behind us were not so luck. We were hit from behind by an oncoming speeding car trying to swerve out of the way and then hit a second time by a car that was behind us in our lane.

The first hit sent us spinning and the second hit rammed us into the median separating the highway from the express lane.

WE ARE OKAY minus a few cuts and bruises and some wicked whiplash. Give thanks .

However we are emotionally and psychologically a bit shaken. We JUST got this car two weeks

ago after being without a car for over a month. We don’t live in the city and we need our car to get any and everywhere. I work in Baltimore weekly and travel out of state to perform multiple times a month. The financial toll renting cars took on us was insane. I spent about $200-$300 a week renting cars and even more buying Ubers.

It was a struggle to rent cars AND save for a new one, but we did it. Now we’re back at square one and I just don’t see how we’ll be able to do it all again on our own. We’re saving to move back to city, Jala starts school at the end of the month, and I’ll need to make it to Baltimore and back for the next foreseeable weekends.

We’re hopeful that insurance takes care of everything and we’ll get money to replace the car. However who knows how long that will take and we can’t got another month without a car. We’ll have to rent one in the meantime which is quite expensive.

I hate coming here asking for help when we are all trying to make it in this economy, and I would not ask unless I had another choice. We’ve been having such bad luck this year, I really don’t think my mental health can take another hit. Thank you for reading if you got this far.
