My name is Maira & the purpose of this GoFund me is to raise funds for my sister in law Eva.

Back in April of 2024 she was diagnosed with Stage 3B Colon Cancer. She underwent emergency surgery & 12 rounds of chemotherapy. The cancer went away & she was cancer free.

Unfortunately a week and a half ago after completing her CT scan the doctors discovered that she had metastasized liver cancer. That was the initial diagnosis by her oncologist. She received a second opinion from another oncologist at Kaiser this past Wednesday only to receive more devastating news. The cancer had not only metastasized to her liver, but to her lungs and abdomen as well. With palliative chemotherapy as the only option.

The funds that we are raising through this GoFund are to get opinions outside of Kaiser. Due to Kaiser being a private insurance she is not able to be referred out per her oncologist and she would be responsible for full cost. I have researched & Stanford Health & UCSF/John Muir have self referral that would have to be paid out of pocket for a third opinion.

Mi nombre es Maira y el propósito de este GoFund me es recaudar fondos para mi cuñada Eva.

En abril de 2024 le diagnosticaron cáncer de colon en estadio 3B. Se sometió a una cirugía de emergencia y 12 rondas de quimioterapia. El cáncer desapareció y ella estaba libre de cáncer.

Desafortunadamente, hace una semana y media, después de completar su tomografía computarizada, los médicos descubrieron que tenía cáncer de hígado metastásico. Ese fue el diagnóstico inicial de su oncólogo. Recibió una segunda opinión de otro oncólogo en Kaiser el miércoles pasado solo para recibir noticias más devastadoras. El cáncer no solo había hecho metástasis en su hígado, sino también en sus pulmones y abdomen. Con la quimioterapia paliativa como única opción.

Los fondos que estamos recaudando a través de este GoFund son para obtener opiniones fuera de Kaiser. Debido a que Kaiser es un seguro privado, no puede ser derivada por su oncólogo y sería responsable del costo total. He investigado y Stanford Health y UCSF/John Muir tienen una referencia personal que tendría que pagarse de su bolsillo para una tercera opinión.
