Support Evan's Recovery from a Massive Stroke

Donation protected
Our names are Thehbia and Alexis, and we are reaching out to support our friend Evan, who is fighting to recover from a massive stroke. Anyone who knows Evan has seen the deep love he has for his family. Whether cheering for his sons’ sports and music performances or living out his faith in God, Evan has always been a proud and steady presence. And if you’ve ever been to the family’s summer cookout, you know he’s also one of the best cooks around.

On September 20, at just 51 years old, Evan suffered a catastrophic stroke in the basal artery, resulting in locked-in syndrome—a rare condition that leaves him fully conscious but without the ability to move or speak. He remains in intensive care on a ventilator, surrounded by love and prayers from his wife, three sons, extended family, and close friends who visit and lift him up every day.

Alethea has been by his side every day—making critical medical decisions, advocating for his care, and holding their family together. Their sons, 18, 16, and 13, are doing their best to stay strong through an unimaginably hard time. Their oldest has just started college, while the younger two attend New Rochelle High School and Albert Leonard Middle School.

While there are small signs of progress, Evan’s recovery will be long and uncertain. The family faces major expenses: the loss of Evan’s income, Alethea’s need to take leave from work, and new costs as Evan has been moved to a rehabilitation facility in New Jersey, requiring daily travel and additional expenses. As the family begins to plan for the next stage of his recovery, they will also need to prepare for significant accommodations at home to ensure accessibility, including wheelchair access, home modifications, and specialized medical equipment.

Our friends need our collective support to help cover daily living costs, medical and rehabilitation care, home adaptations, and family essentials during this difficult period.

Those who know Evan know his kindness, his faith in God, his humor, and how he’s always been there for others—helping neighbors or cheering from the sidelines at his kids’ games. Now it’s our turn to be there for him.

Any donation, large or small, will make a difference for this wonderful New Rochelle family. Your generosity will help them focus on what matters most—Evan’s healing and their family’s well-being.
