Help me support Evans' dream of a Master Education

Donation protected
Hi everyone!

I am a 28 years old Italian guy who likes playing basketball, cooking and reading about climate change and development economics.

In May I visited a Children's Home in Kenya called International Peace Initiative (IPI), hosting 73 children with disadvantaged backgrounds. During this travel, I realised that sometimes it is very easy to change people's lives. So after learning about how IPI works, meeting the people and hearing their stories, I have decided to focus on the cause which I thought was most effective: the Master Education of Evans Mwangi.

Evans is an ex-orphan of IPI who has lived in the streets with his little brother for many years, but when given the chance to study, he achieved brilliant academic results.

Evans is a very smart and compassionate person who is giving back all himself to the children of IPI and is significantly helping mom (Doctor K) run the centre.

Despite being expensive, a top-level Master's Education for a person who deserves it would have a multiplier effect on the money invested, allowing Evans to sustain more children in the future. Also, having Evans in an élite network would provide IPI with better resources and would be a source of inspiration to the other kids.

Help me support Evans's education. I think Evans deserves this for himself, his little brother, and all of his siblings at IPI, to which he would finally be able to give better chances in life.

About Evans Mwangi Njoki:

Evans is an ex-kid of IPI who has become one of the key directors, with substantial responsibilities and dedication towards the community and the children. He spends his days across various activities, including designing construction projects, managing the finances and helping the children everywhere is needed. Everyone looks up to him as a big brother.

Evans lost his mum and suffered abandonment from his father when he was still a child. As a result, he had to start very early to take care of his little brother while suffering hunger and many other challenges of living alone on the streets for several years.

The story of Evans is full of suffering but is also full of extraordinary acts of compassion. Thanks to his commitment to Church, Evans was given a second chance to have a high school education at 21, after quitting school at 11. Despite hunger, he did amazingly and got his diploma, ranking 20th out of thousands of students in the region and 1st in a few subjects, including chemistry and physics.

Later, thanks to Doctor Karambu, who welcomed him at KACH, and donors who saw something special in him, Evans managed to have a university education and obtained a BSc in Mathematics and Computer Science at Kenyatta University, completed with top grades.

Evans now dreams of continuing his education by attending the MSc in Information Systems Security at Strathmore University. This international university would allow him to unlock his potential and start a brilliant career.

The total cost of this two years program is c. 1,450,000 Kenyan Shillings (KES), equivalent to $12,400, €11,560 or £9,840.

Any potential offers of a student loan are highly welcome! Kenya, unfortunately, does not provide this option for Master's education, making it prohibitive for people outside the elite to attend it.

About International Peace Initiative (IPI):

IPI was born from a promise Doctor K (PhD Professor Karambu Ringera) made to a friend, a mom affected by HIV, to guarantee a future for her children. IPI today runs a Children's Home of 73 kids and several activities to sustain the centre and the local community.

All of the kids at IPI and the staff members have been rescued by Dr K from complex life challenges. However, I noted that everyone at IPI is mindful of its situation and open to sharing his story. At IPI, no one let himself be defined by its past, but only by its potential.

The results of this collective healing and empowerment mindset are amazing. I was surprised by how much the kids are willing to study and cultivate their passions. A few of them even managed to study in the United States through scholarships, being a source of inspiration to the others.

Individual sponsorships support a third of the children at IPI; the others are sustained through activities including agriculture, cloth repairing and soap production. Visitors are very few and not a source of income. IPI actually invests in its guests, promoting a constructive sharing of experiences and knowledge.
