Evan Padilla is a talented 20-year-old musical artist, nephew of Rene and Anthony Montoya, and the first-born grandson of Hannah Montoya. Evan had an incredibly bright future ahead of him and was preparing to attend the Conservatory of Recording Arts and Sciences in Tempe, Arizona, on a full scholarship in May 2026. Tragically, Evan’s life changed forever when he went to sell a watch and was violently robbed and shot four times. Evan’s girlfriend of four years, Emily, helped save his life by immediately applying a tourniquet to his arm. Although Evan survived multiple surgeries, doctors discovered that a bullet fragment was lodged in his spine and, sadly, it cannot be safely removed. Evan has suffered a life-altering spinal cord injury and will be paralyzed from the chest down, he was determined to be a quadriplegic with the "Grade A complete", which is the most severe level of a spinal cord injury.
Evan has already endured heartbreaking loss in his life. His single mother, Raisa, passed away tragically when he was only 8 years old. Now, his family—Rene, Anthony, Hannah, and their six children—are stepping in to become Evan’s full-time caregivers in their two-story home in Albuquerque, New Mexico. As they adjust to this unexpected reality, the family is facing overwhelming financial challenges. Donations will help cover medical expenses and hospital bills, rehabilitation and physical therapy, home accommodations and ongoing care, and a minivan with a ramp for disabled passengers.
Despite everything he has been through, Evan remains strong. The road ahead will be long, but with support from his family, friends, and the community, Evan can begin rebuilding his life with dignity, hope, and stability. We are deeply grateful for every donation, prayer, and share of this fundraiser. Your kindness and generosity will make a tremendous difference for Evan and his family during this incredibly difficult time. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for helping Evan through this journey.
