Eva is almost 11 years-old and is in the 5th grade at Washburn Elementary. Eva is a fun-loving, caring, and smart girl who enjoys playing soccer,
doing gymnastics, baking, spending time with her family, and playing with her brother, sister, and friends!
In January, Eva discovered a bump on her arm that prompted her parents Ryan (son of Bonnie Belanger-Livingston) and Erica to take her to the doctor. After multiple appointments, scans, and a biopsy of the tumor, all done at Essentia Health St. Mary's in Duluth, MN, it was determined that the lump was a soft tissue cancer known as, Clear Cell Sarcoma, which is extremely rare. After getting this diagnosis she was immediately referred to the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN for further evaluation and treatment. After more appointments, biopsies, and scans, it was confirmed that Eva's cancer has spread to the lymph nodes in her arm and armpit. The good news is that the cancer has not metastasized elsewhere. After her most recent appointment it was determined that amputating Eva's arm is the best course of treatment at this time.
Eva has been incredibly brave and positive throughout this entire process. Her mom, dad, brother Caleb, and sister Addisen have also remained positive as well! Erica and Ryan have both been off of work and not sure when they will be able to return. With both kids still at home, day to day bills, travel expenses, medical expenses, etc we would like to help the family during this financial hardship.
