Etta was diagnosed with B-cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (B-ALL) - High Risk - CNS 3 on March 28th, 2026. She will undergo two years of intense chemotherapy and possibly radiation, an impossible reality for such a sweet three-year-old. We are absolutely devastated but remain optimistic that we will get through this.
We are documenting Etta's journey for those who want to follow along, simply click here.
To help cover the financial burden of these next few years, we are creating this GoFundMe as a way for those who would like or are able to contribute.
Some of the ways this money will be used:
- Covering out-of-pocket medical expenses not covered by insurance for in-network and out-of-network doctors and procedures.
- Etta will be severely immunocompromised for much of the next two years. We are currently on well water, which we have been told is not safe for Etta during this period. We will need to install a whole-house water filtration/sterilization system so she can safely drink and bathe in our water at home.
- Every time we drive to/from the hospital, we have to take a toll bridge. Each crossing is ~$5 per vehicle, or $10/day per car. We often are both driving because one of us will stay later with Etta while the other has to get home to Avery, so it’s an easy $15-$20/day, which over the next two years will add up.
- Helping to cover professional cleaners to deep clean the house in between chemo rounds when Etta’s ANC is bottomed out.
- Miscellaneous supplies that the hospital won’t provide like puke bags, gloves (we have to wear gloves when we change her pull-ups, wipe her, clean up vomit, etc. because the chemo is toxic), or hats for when she loses her hair. We’re only two weeks in, so we have no idea what else will pop up on this list.
