Ethan is a Taiwanese motorcycle racer whose path into the sport is defined by self-discipline, adaptability, and relentless work ethic. Born and raised in Taiwan with no formal riding background, he moved to the United States for college in art. While excelling at school, he began developing his skills independently, following his passion—building his own motorcycles and daring to train alone in Los Angeles parking lots late at night. Recognizing Spain as the global benchmark for rider development, Ethan invested his school breaks traveling there to advance his technique and race craft, including professional training at Chicho Lorenzo's riding school. His commitment and unconventional progression drew the attention of MotoGP rider Maverick Viñales, who invited Ethan to train at his private camp in Barcelona.
Ethan transitioned into competitive racing through Northern California's AFM 300 class and Southern California's premier CVMA series, where he is currently leading the Amateur Twins class. With a clear understanding that elite performance demands full commitment, Ethan made the decisive move to leave college and pursue motorcycle racing professionally. With the support of former MotoGP rider John Hopkins, Ethan was granted the opportunity to remain in the United States, where he now lives, works, and trains full-time across all disciplines of riding—dirt and asphalt—at Hopkins' racetrack in a motorhome year round. Guided by the belief that hard work is both a privilege and a responsibility, Ethan is focused on representing Taiwan at the highest level of international motorcycle racing and becoming one of the nation's first riders to stand on a global podium.
Ethan’s journey is not just about racing—it’s about representing Taiwan in the face of immense political challenges. Taiwan is under constant pressure and oppression from a neighboring dictator regime, which threatens its sovereignty and forces athletes to compromise their identity. For example, Taiwanese athletes are not allowed to use their own flag in the Olympics or the World Baseball Series, and are often forced to compete under different names. Despite these obstacles, Ethan is determined to proudly represent Taiwan and show the world the spirit and resilience of his country. He cannot be in this position without the people who helped him along the journey—from reporters who wrote about his story, to Aldo from Bullydozer Garage supporting his local racing career, and to the team negotiations led by his dear boss and mentor from Ohvale USA/Apex Motorsports Park, John Hopkins and Matt. Your support will help cover essential expenses like race team fees, accommodation, and nutrition, allowing Ethan to focus on training and competing at the highest level. Please consider joining Ethan on this journey to represent Taiwan on the international stage. Your encouragement and generosity mean the world to him.
