Support Ethan's Fight Against Brain Cancer

Hello, I’m Sami Harvey, and I’m reaching out with a heartfelt request to support my 23-year-old brother, Ethan, through an unexpected and challenging journey. In June, Ethan underwent an MRI to investigate persistent migraines and vision issues. We hoped to rule out the worst, but the results revealed an unexpected reality: a brain tumor. Within 24 hours of this diagnosis, Ethan underwent urgent brain surgery to relieve pressure in his head and obtained a biopsy. He spent 10 days in the surgical ICU at the University of Vermont Medical Center, enduring numerous tests and close monitoring.

A few days after surgery, we received the heartbreaking news that Ethan’s tumor is cancerous—an extremely rare type called Germinoma. His treatment plan includes chemotherapy, which he has already begun here in VT, and radiation therapy starting in September at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston for 5 weeks. Despite the long road ahead, Ethan remains incredibly strong, fueled by the love and support pouring in from near and far. Every kind word, prayer, and gesture has lifted his spirits and given him the strength to keep fighting.

As we navigate this difficult time, Ethan must delay his professional growth and the establishment of his independence. Ethan’s treatment and recovery will be costly and it is crucial that he focuses now on getting well. Asking for help can be difficult.
